News and Diary 2009
22nd November.... Bleanavon foal show. Flydon Seren Olaf was shown by Hannah Hopkinson in the young handlers class and collectively they won the class!! Flydon Sidan Aur was 7th in the filly class from over 20 forward.
15th November.... Flydon Perl Arian was 2nd placed filly at the Midland Association foal show. She is a natural born show off and received a huge amount of admiration from around the ring.
8th November.... West Mercia foal show. Flydon Perl Arian was 5th in the Section A filly foal class while Flydon Seren Olaf was 2nd and highest placed section A in the M&M class. Both foals went well and show great promise as future show mares.
Meanwhile at the North Western foal show, Penech Whats Wanted by Flydon Hapus ap Henri won a big colt foal class for his breeders Brian and Jennifer. Photo below.
26th October.... We were extremely pleased to hear that Flydon Taran was 2nd in the National High-point junior gelding of the Year 2009. He was unbeaten as a junior gelding at 12 shows
25th October.... Flydon Llwy De was 5th and Flydon Neifion was 7th at the National Foal show today
28th September.... We are pleased to announce that the two year old colt Flydon Llwy Bren (Flydon Wyn x Flydon Llwy Arian) has been sold to Australia and will be leaving at the beginning of November. He is going to Chris, Gordon and Lana Gray of the Elargee Stud in Victoria. www.elargee.com
27th September.... All the ponies we took to Fayre Oaks have lovely new homes, we wish everyone lots of luck and fun with them. Flydon Addewid Aur has returned to Flydon and seems very happy to be home.
5th September.... News from Holland....Vennebos Pearly Gem scored a good win at the Altena show Show in Almkerk, eventually standing Youngstock Champion under Mr. John Russel of the Gartconnel stud.
31st August....Pontardulais silver medal show.... Last show of the summer season! Flydon Arian Tlws was 1st in the yearling class, Flydon Hudol on her debut outing was 2nd in the 3yr old class and Flydon Taran retained his unbeaten young gelding status by winning the gelding class.
Finally we got rid of the Aussie!! We bundled him into the back of a blue van towing a trailer and he was last seen at the Menai sale!!! Thanks for all your help Ashley!
30th August....News from Holland.....Hoekhorst Elizabeth (line bred to Flydon Megan) was Reserve supreme Champion at the Dragon Welsh Show. Well done Hoeke family!
At the same show, Vennebos Pearly Gem (by Flydon Hapus ap Henri) was reserve Youngstock Champion. Well done Rhode!
9th August.... Avon and Borders summer medal show....Flydon Arian Tlws was 1st in the yearling filly class and Flydon Taran was 1st in the junior gelding class and went on to be Supreme Champion Welsh gelding. We also showed Cromagtir Devi, by Flydon Hiwmor, (owned and bred by Kevin and Lesley Moy) who won the 2/3 year old filly class and went on to be youngstock Champion. Devi pictured below, well done Ashley for showing her so well, your first UK win.
2nd August.... Flydon Taran won the junior gelding class at The National Show Shrewsbury. Returning home we became aware of a funny noise coming from the back of the lorry, sounding something like "G'day" and "Bonza"!!!??? We turned round only to find someone had dumped a homeless Aussie in the living!!! So Ashley Porter of the Vanoca Park stud is now staying at Flydon...just until we can find another unlocked lorry to dump him in!!!
A very sad day here at Flydon when Flydon Pipsqueak had to be put to sleep. She has been a fantastic broodmare, leaving endless decendants still with us
21st/22nd July....Another wet and muddy Royal Welsh!!!! Flydon Llwy Arian was 5th in the junior broodmare class, Flydon Hoffus was Highly Commended in the usual huge yearling filly class and Flydon Taran was highest placed gelding in the 3yr old filly/gelding class! Llwy pictured below
11th July.... Flydon Taran was 1st at Midland Association Summer Silver medal show today
10th July.... Flydon Hoffus was 4th at the last Royal of England show.
27th June.... Flydon Taran was highest placed gelding in the mixed 2/3 year old class and went on to be Champion Welsh gelding at the MIdland in Hand show today. Flydon Cwmwl Llwyd owned by Britta Sorensen won the class. Well done Britta.
26th June.... Exciting news form our friends Kevin and Lesley Moy of the Cromagtir Stud. Their three year old homebred filly Cromagtir Devi (by Flydon Hiwmor), was Section A Champion and res M&M Champion at the Royal Highland. Well done all!
24th June.... Cheshire County Show. Flydon Taran was 2nd in the 17 strong gelding class! First was Sarum Whirlwind by Flydon Caradog! Flydon Lowri was 6th in the junior mare class, and Flydon Cwmwl Llwyd was 4th in the 3yr old colt class
20th June.... Flydon Arian Byw has had a colt foal by Flydon Hapus ap Henri, the last foal for 2009. Flydon Broch
6th June.... Severn Valley medal show. Flydon Hoffus was 2nd (to the eventual champion) in the yearling filly class; Flydon Taran (pictured below) was highest placed gelding in the 2/3 year old filly/gelding class and went on the be Reserve Supreme Champion gelding of the day.
31st May....news from Holland. Vennebos Pearly Gem, by Flydon Hapus ap Henri was 2nd at a show in Holland yesterday, judged by UK judge Chris Cobley.
29th May.... Flydon Hoffus was 2nd at The Bath and West Show today
28th May....Flydon Eirlys has a colt foal by Islyn Bond. Flydon Robin Goch
23rd May.... West Mercia Bronze Medal show. Flydon Hoffus (picture below) was 2nd in the yearling filly class whilst Flydon Taran won the young gelding class. Congratulations to Evan and Sue Parsons on yet another extremely well run show! Your hard work is appreciated by many.
17th May.... A very wet and windy showing day at Carmarthen Association Medal Show!! Flydon Hoffus was 2nd in a large yearling filly class, whilst Flydon Taran was 1st in the 1/2/3 yr old gelding class and reserve supreme Champion gelding. So all in all it was worth getting drenched!
9th May.... Flydon Seren Aur has a filly foal, Flydon Sidan Aur by Flydon Wyn.
8th May.... Flydon Seren Nos has a colt foal by Flydon Wyn
7th May.... Flydon Seren Efydd has a colt foal by Flydon Dant-y-llew. Flydon Emrys
7th May.... Flydon Seren Arian has a filly foal, Flydon Perl Arian by Flydon Wyn, full sister to Flydon Calon Arian
1st May.... Flydon Pipsqueak has a filly foal! Flydon Seren Olaf, by Flydon Wyn.
30th April.... Revel Sequila has had a filly foal by Thisltledown Blue Moon, named "Chocolat"
27th April.... First foal of the season.....and it's a filly. Despite being nearly 3 weeks overdue, Flydon Llwy Arian produced a lovely filly by Flydon Wyn, Flydon Llwy De, the sixth generation of Flydon females; from; Gredington Drysores (by Coed Coch Planed)-> Flydon Beth (by Gredington Asa) -> Flydon Pip's Last (by Clan Pip) -> Flydon Pipsqueak (by Flydon Henri ap Pip) -> Flydon Seren Arian (by Flydon Henri ap Pip) -> Flydon Llwy Arian (by Flydon Caradog) and -> one small foal, Flydon Llwy De, (by Flydon Wyn) with her whole future in front of her. The last four generations in the same field as I write!
13th April.... Flydon Cwmwl Llwyd, property of Britta Sorensen, won the 3yr old colt class at the North Western Youngstock, Bronze Medal show today. Well done all.
12th April....news from Holland. Vennebos Pearly Gem, by Flydon Hapus ap Henri won the three year filly and colt class at the spring show Putte, Belgium. Well done Rhode and Piet!
4th April....Continuing his education, Flydon Taran was 2nd at the Midland Association Spring medal show. Flydon Sipsi Aur, pictured below, was 4th in the yearling filly class.
21st March.... First show of the season, Forest of Dean stallion show. Flydon Taran our three year old gelding left the farm for the first time and inspite of being totally awestruck came home with his first, first prize. However the star of the show was our yearling filly, Flydon Hoffus who won her yearling class and went on to be youngstock Champion and overall Section Champion, winning the Bronze medal and Qualifying for the National Championships. Also at the show, Flydon Cwmwl Llwyd was 2nd in the 2/3 yr old colt class, owned by Britta Sorenson and shown by Colin Tibbey. All three are by Flydon Wyn.

10th January.... Flydon Seren Efydd has been sold to Joost van Wijk from Holland. Efydd will be foaling here (we will retain the foal) and then she will travel to Holland in the Autumn having run with Flydon Wyn for the summer. We are very excited about this placement as Efydd is a perfect foundation mare for this young enthusiastic breeder.
